Description

The Hokuyo UST-05LA LIDAR scanner is an innovative technology for autonomous robotic optics. It is primarily used across several industries for object detection and localization, providing incisive vision to robots, guided vehicles and carts. Other applications include material handling and packaging, distribution and warehousing, and automotive and aerospace. The UST-05LA sensor has a convenient USB and RS422 interface for data output, allowing users to set three configurable area output zones. The device is also highly power-efficient, relying solely on battery power to operate over long spans of time. With a 270º field of view up to 5 meters with unparalleled precision, the UST-05LA LIDAR scanner is truly unmatched.

Applications

UST-05LN/UST-05LA is a scanning laser range finder. The sensor emits pulsed laser beams around 270° field. When the emitted laser beams are reflected back from an object, its distance is measured by applying the Time-of-Flight (TOF) principle. The sensor has 541 measurement steps with 0.5° pitch. User can preset up to 31 area patterns in the sensor. Each area has 3 outputs; Output1, Output2 and Output3 (see Fig. 1). When the sensor detects an object in the area, corresponding outputs are switched to OFF state. User can obtain the measurement data from the sensor using SCIP communication protocol (UST-05LA only).
